"Seattle Street of Dreams 2005" Above: Ramona's mural at this years "Street of Dreams" was featured in "Northwest Home & Garden" magazine and is the center piece of House #1 "Aston Villa" built by Cramer Construction. The mural graces the walls of the vaulted dining room and is visible from both upstairs and down. It depicts a Tuscan vineyard scene which ties in with the wine country theme of the show.
Above: Vineyard mural adds depth to a bar area with it's open window illusion complete with painted wine glass and bottle.

above: Ramona's painting depicts Lake Como Italy A mural can be the making of an interior (or exterior too), often giving the illusion of space and light. A mural is a great way of making any area just that little bit more special. It can enliven a dull room, open out a small one, or create a great conversation piece, which can be a bonus in a public setting such as a restaurant. Trompe l'oeil (meaning "trick of the eye") Many murals become or contain trompe l'oeil. Something as simple as a painted mouse on a skirting board is considered to be trompe l'oeil. As murals are often painted to create an illusion of one sort or another, such as an opening out onto a beautiful landscape, they can often be considered as being trompe l'oeil too.
Above: A matching pair of 10x11' murals painted in the vaulted area over the great room at Grayhaven estate in Belcarra, BC depicting classical ruins bathed in a golden sunset is the pride of the homeowners.
